Bethany- Lyn "Buffy" C.
Hoyne
Apr 16, 1984 — Mar 12, 2026
Bethany-Lyn "Buffy" Hoyne, of Lisbon, 41, passed from this earth on March 12, 2026, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. She is survived by her beloved son Austin, 12; mother Reja Jager and stepfather Bill Jager of Lisbon, siblings Lynae Hoyne of Surprise Arizona, Dylan (Melissa) Hoyne of Waterman, Nikky Hoyne of Lisbon, Nathan (Stephanie) Hoyne of Crest Hill, Cori Hoyne of Lisle, Levi (Michelle) Jager of Ottawa, and Renni (Domenic) Fisher of Newark; fond nieces and nephews Rachel, Jacob, Connor, Derek, Brantley, Ethan, Hunter, Henry, Violet, Madelyn, Rose, Lily, and Everleigh; many cousins; former fiancé Steve Vanderbaan, and close friends Bryant Z and Cindy H. She is preceded in death by her father Darryl Hoyne.
Buffy grew up on a small farm in unincorporated Willowbrook, where she helped raise show sheep, dairy goats, and her pet cow, "Moopy". She was homeschooled and became very active in gymnastics. Later she attended Bryant & Stratton College in Ohio, where she studied business. After returning to Illinois, she worked at a cook at Carmelite Carefree Village in Darien, then went on to be a prep / assistant cook for several area restaurants, including Eddie Merlot's in Burr Ridge. Her last job was as rodman and eventual office assistant at the former Range 9 Land Surveying in Newark.
Buffy loved dolphins, anything related to Tigger and was a big fan of the architecture of Frank Lloyd Wright. She wasn't afraid to tackle a toolkit, had many friends, and rarely judged anyone. She was known for her constant smile, cheerful disposition, and strong work ethic. She enjoyed the country music group Rascal Flatts and went to many country music festivals over the years, but her big passion was cooking. In the last few years of her life, once she became bedridden, she devoured cooking shows throughout the day. Other than cooking, her greatest joy was spending time with her son and watching him grow up.
