Carl Matter was born October 12, 1947 in Waukegan, Illinois to Carl A. and Dorothy (nee Smith) Matter. He passed away, September 10, 2008 in Park Ridge. Carl retired from Sears after 37 years of service. He also worked for the Daily Herald for many years. A beloved husband, best friend, loving father, grandfather, brother and uncle. He will always be remembered for his devotion, strong work ethic, warm spirit, kind heart, integrity, his support and love for everyone around him and especially his jolly laugh. It is through our memories that his legacy will live on forever. Carl is survived by his wife Kristen (nee Grandfield); daughters Catherine Matter, Amy (Jeff) Cappert, Emily Matter and Kimberly (Danny) Carlson; grandchildren Alyssa and Carl N. Matter and Gabrielle Cappert, as well as another grandson expected this winter; his sister Linda (Jim) Smejkal and her children Mikayla and Ana Brown. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM, Thursday, September 18 at Windridge Memorial Park, Chapel, 7014 South Rawson Bridge Rd., Cary, IL. Visitation will be Wednesday, from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the Funeral Home, 104 High Rd. (just west of Rt. 14 and West Main St.), Cary, IL and Thursday at the cemetery from 10:00 AM until time of services.
