David M. Groenendal, age 62, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Thursday, February 23, 2023.

He was a graduate of Morton East High School with the class of 1979.

David enjoyed learning about astrology, astronomy, weather maps and clouds, reading Archie, Rich Rich, and many other old comic books, and watching all the old TV shows.

Survived by his parents, Erwin (Dorothy) Groenendal; brother, Steven (Daphne) Groenendal; nieces, Valerie (Frank) Palumbo and Sarah (Bryan) Chalekian; nephew, Nicholas Rees. Great nieces Lia, Jaelyn, Dezi, Izabella, and Josephine. Great nephews, Nolan, and Lorenzo. Many cousins also survive.

Preceded in death by his sister and brother in law, Debbie (Donald) Buffa; his niece, Crystal Groenendal; grandparents, Kazimer and (Sophie) Wojtowicz; Matthew (Lillian) Groenendal; and his beloved Welsh Corgis, Noah, and Riley.

Per David's wishes cremation rites have been accorded. A memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations to an animal shelter of your choice would be appreciated.
