We are sad to announce the passing of Ernest A. Scalpelli, age 83, Tuesday, October 31, 2023.

Survived by his loving wife of 27 years, Lynn Wyss; children, Tom (Ann) Scalpelli, Tony (Laksana) Scalpelli and Pam Snyder; four grandchildren, Sean Scalpelli, Alex (Nick) Dinoffria, Cidney Scalpelli and Taylor (Phill) Mcintosh; great grandchildren, Parker Mcintosh and Gage Scalpelli; sister Lil Kanive; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Scott (May) Wyss, Debbie Fleischauer, Sandy (Bob) Cagann, Frank (Sherrie) Wyss, Dave (Jodi) Wyss and Wendy Wyss. Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends also survive.

Preceded in death by his father, Sylvester Scalpelli; mother, Grace (Joe) Malnar; brothers, Bill Scalpelli, Sy Scalpelli and Joey Malnar; grandson, Damian Scalpelli; son-in-law, Rich Snyder; brothers-in-law, Ed Kanive, Barry Wyss and Bob Fleischauer; sister-in-law, Paula Wyss.

In early years, Ernie was raised above Malnar's Tap with his family. Ernie's greatest enjoyment in life was to be around his family and friends, whom he had many of.

Ernie was an avid member of a gym for years where he made many friends, but no matter where he went, he knew someone, or they knew him. His knowledge of Joliet was impeccable.

He worked for Honiotes Brothers many years until their closing. He made a connection with many people. Ernie ended his career at PSC in Rockdale where he met his extended family whom he cherished.

Ernie will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Memorial services for Ernie will be held at Farkas Funeral Home, 3201 W. Jefferson Street, Joliet, IL 60431, Thursday, November 9, 2023, at 12:00 p.m. Memorial visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until time of services. In lieu of flowers, memorials in his name can be made to the Will County Humane Society.
