Francis Leroy Gubbins, 89, of Grayville, Illinois, died Wednesday, October 3, 2012, at Meadowood Nursing Home in Grayville. He was born October 21, 1922, in Cowling, Illinois, the son of Roy and Violet (Nesler) Gubbins. He was married to Mary Lou (Millar) Nesler and she survives. He was a Master Mason, member of Ridge Church, World War II Army veteran, member of the American Legion, a truck driver, and worked in the oil fields of Southern Illinois. In his leisure time he enjoyed woodworking, being a handyman, and telling stories. Survivors included his wife, Mary Lou Gubbins of Grayville; son Mike (Susan) Gubbins of Minooka, Illinois; stepson Ronald Nesler of Grayville; sister Bertha (Jesse) Cross of Carmi, Illinois; step grandchildren Jamie (Destiny) Nesler and Adam (Jamie E.) Nesler; step great grandchildren, Devin, Brynn, Braden, Dafney and Dakota Nesler. He is preceded in death by his parents; first wife Helen 'Maxine' (Johnson) Gubbins; daughter Ina Jean Gubbins. Family will receive friends on Monday, October 8, 2012 from 10:00am to 11:00am, with a funeral service to follow at the funeral home. Interment will be at the Woodlawn Memorial Park.
