Frank 'Gene' Santolin, age 68, passed away on Sunday, November 29, 2009 at the Joliet Area Community Hospice. He was a lifelong resident of Plainfield, IL. Survived by his loving children, Michael (Melissa) Santolin, Chris (Margaret) Santolin, and Tony (Deborah) Santolin; sisters, Irma (Dick) Marino and Viola (late Frank) Marino; grandchildren, Kathryn and Emily Santolin and Tim Schoeneck. Preceded in death by his wife, Judith Santolin (2001); parents, Louis and Theresa Santolin; brothers, Phillip, John, and Mario Santolin. Gene retired from Union Local #150 Operating Engineers after 31 years of service. While Gene enjoyed softball and fishing, some of his best times were spent with his best friend, Don Vancus. Special thanks to Gene''s angel, Darlene Bergman. He will be deeply missed. Family will receive friends on Thursday, December 3, 2009 from 3pm- 7:30pm with a service to follow at the funeral home.
