Freddie Jean Wood, age 82, passed away peacefully with her family at her side on Wednesday, February 22, 2023.

Survived by her husband of 65 years, Rex Wood; daughters, Cendy (Charles) Mantz and Pamela Schnabl; grandchildren, Mickey (Sarah) Owano, Heather (Mark) Babecki, Ashley (Sean) Kline and Kelsey (Michael) Baxter; great grandchildren, Kaleb, and Peyton Owano, Brycen Babecki; sister-in-law, Peggy (Bobbyjack) Williams and her brother-in-law, Sam (Nelda) Wood. Numerous nieces, nephews and family also survive.

Preceded in death by her parents, Fred Earl, and Mary (Donald) Protsman; her brother, Paul Earl.

Jean was born on May 6, 1940 in Knoxville, Tennessee. She married the love of her life on March 15, 1957 in Corinth, Mississippi. She was a loving and dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother who cherished her life as a homemaker. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren were very special to her, and she meant the world to them. She was an avid baker, loved to crochet, and had a love for dogs. She will be missed greatly by all who loved her.

Celebration of Life for Jean will be held at Farkas Funeral Home, 3201 W. Jefferson St. Joliet, IL 60431 on Sunday, February 26, 2023, from 2:00 to 5:00 pm. Per Jean's wishes cremation rites have been accorded. In lieu of flowers donations to Lightways Hospice in Joliet would be appreciated.
