It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Gary D. Martin, age 82, of Joliet, on April 20, 2025.

Gary is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Suzanne "Sue" (née Cheney) Martin; his children, Michael Martin and Lisa Eggemeyer; grandchildren, Brett (Monica) Eggemeyer and Shay (Zach) Kistinger; and great-grandchildren, Ethan and Caleb Kistinger.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert and Estelle Martin.

Gary lived his life with honesty and integrity, earning the respect and trust of everyone who knew him. He was a classic car enthusiast and could often be found behind the wheel of his beautifully restored car, and at local cruise nights sharing conversations with friends. Beyond his love for cars, Gary was also well respected in the world of philately. His vast stamp collection and extensive knowledge earned him the admiration of collectors both near and far.

Those who knew Gary will remember his steadfast love for golden retrievers. His loyal companions over the years brought him endless hours of joy and comfort. His kind spirit will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

A memorial service for Gary will be held on Saturday May 10, 2025, at Farkas Funeral Home, 3201 W. Jefferson Street, Joliet, IL. Service led by Rev. David Totsky will begin at 9:00 a.m., with visitation to follow until 11:00 a.m.

Per Gary's wishes, cremation rites have been accorded.
