Obituary

Georgene "Gina" L. Marenche, age 37, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, June 3, 2020. Survived by her father, James (Lisa) Marenche; her siblings, Jay Marenche, Ava Marenche and Anthony Marenche; her aunts and uncles, Nancy Hopp, Robert Marenche, Elaine (Mel) Smith and Ronald (Jan) Hibler and her loving fiancé, Stephen Polkow. Also survive are numerous cousins and friends. Preceded in death by her mother, Diane M. Marenche; her grandparents, Frank (Stephanie) Marenche and George (Josephine) Hibler and her great aunt, Caroline. Gina, as she insisted to be called even though her family couldn't bring themselves to call her that, she will always be Georgene. Gina had the world at her feet and was destined for great things. Her dreams were coming true. She became an RN in addition to a BS in Psychology and was actively pursuing her NP. She knew being in medicine was her calling. Gina was always ready with her stethoscope and band aids. Her dad works in healthcare, and he and Gina always had a funny phrase they'd say to each other a lot, "RN stands for what Gina?", "Refreshments & Narcotics Dad". She made a lasting impression with every co-worker and classmate throughout her journey. Her heart was her best characteristic. Gina's love for music spanned all genres, you could always hear her humming a tune from Country to Rap. Guaranteed, she always knew the what's what with news and entertainment. She was the best big sister, always available and present for every milestone and event. She found the love of her life in Steve. They were planning a wedding & becoming a family with Steve's son, Hunter. Steve's mother Kathleen became like a second mother to Gina, and of course, "Nurse Gina", as we all called her cared for her during her last days. So many memories and so many people that loved her. Gina was a loyal friend, high tempered at times, but extremely giving and loved her family and friends immensely. She will be greatly missed by all.
