Gloria M Briney Nee Porfilio Age 91, passed away Tuesday April 12, 2016 at the Joliet Area Community Hospice Home in Joliet with her family by her side. Gloria is survived by her sons Robert Briney and Bruce (Robin) Briney, two wonderful grandchildren Paul and Elizabeth Briney, sisters Viola (The late Raymond) Stimac and Donna Lisi Porfilio. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive. Preceded in death by her husband of 40 years Robert Briney, her parents Dominic and Rose (Nee Pantalone), two brothers Donny and Lance (Nancy) Porfilio, four sisters Joyce Embling, Norma Getson, Leonora (The late Maurice) Dalessio, and Angela (The late William) Reed. Gloria was born in Joliet. She graduated from Joliet Township High School Class of 1943. Gloria and her husband Robert were part of the 'Greatest Generation'. While her husband served his country in WWII, Gloria worked at the Great LakesNaval Station as a telephone operator. She also worked at both Joliet Federal and First National Bank in Joliet. Gloria enjoyed cooking, sewing, gardening and volunteering at local nursing homes. She was a longtime member of Holy Family Catholic Church. She was a wonderful loving, caring person, who was deeply devoted to her family and friends and will be deeply missed. A Memorial Mass will be held at Holy Family Catholic Church in Shorewood, Friday April 15, 2015 at 10:30am. Family will receive friends at the Church from 9:30am until time of Mass at 10:30am. Inurnment will be held later at Woodlawn Memorial Park I. Memorials to Holy Family Catholic Church or Joliet Area Community Hospice would be appreciated.
