Greta Sinchak, age 91, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 2, 2025. Formally of Joliet she resided in West Chicago for the past 3 years.

Greta was born to John H. Hill Sr. and Ella E. Hill (nee Kohler) in Earlville, IL. She made Joliet her home after graduation from Earlville High School and worked for AT&T for 40+ years before retiring.

Preceded in death by her son, Joseph M. Sinchak; granddaughter-in-law, Lindsey Schroll; parents, John H. Hill Sr. & Ella E. Hill (nee Kohler); sisters, Doris Smith, Virginia Reyes, Barbara Brown, Betty Kambic, June Sharp and Marian Hill; brothers: Russell Hill, John H. Hill Jr. and Donald Hill.

Survived by her children, Steven Sinchak, Lisa Schroll and Nancy (John) Farley. Greta was a loving Nana to Johnathan and Steven Schroll, Kendra Payne, Marc and William LaPlante; 3 great-grandchildren; sister, Georgia Phillips.  Numerous nieces and nephews also survive.

Greta loved to help others, she would often be found caring for someone in need or volunteering at different organizations. She had a passion for gardening and could grow anything. Greta enjoyed playing cards and bowling. Her family enjoyed her excellent cooking, homemade pies and other scrumptious treats she made from scratch.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the caregivers at Franciscan Court Assisted Living in West Chicago and Suncrest Hospice for their compassionate care.

A private celebration of life will be announced at a later date.
