James F. Perkins, 90, of Joliet, died at home on August 18, 2018. He was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Irene D. Perkins, 2 brothers and 3 sisters. He is survived by 2 daughters, Nancy (Greg) Nieland, Ava (Carmon) Paris, and 1 son, Frank (Penny) Perkins; 5 grandchildren Christopher (Autumn) Nieland, Stephanie Nieland, Nicholas (Christine) Perkins, Amanda (Aaron) Singleton and Jennifer Perkins (fianc Rueben Morris); 5 great-grandchildren, Wesley and Carter Nieland, and Brinley, Adyson and Carley Singleton; as well as 4 brothers and 3 sisters and numerous nieces and nephews. A World War II Army Veteran, Jim moved to Joliet in 1956, where he worked for Caterpillar for more than 30 years before retiring in 1991. He spent his retirement years actively involved in the Rialto Square Theatre, the Boy Scouts and his church. Services will be held Friday August 24, 2018 at the Woodlawn Funeral Home, 3201 W. Jefferson St. With a visitation at 12:00 pm. With the funeral to follow at 2:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Rainbow Council of the Boy Scouts or the Rialto Theatre.
