Obituary

Jane E. McWherter (nee Uscila), age 76, passed away on Friday, May 8, 2020. Survived by her husband of 57 years, Larry J. McWherter; her children, Laura (George) Kartsounes, Dennis (Elyse) McWherter Sr., Debbie McWherter and Terry McWherter; her grandchildren, Sabrina (Christopher) Spencer, William Cosenza, Dennis (Chelsea) McWherter Jr., Marissa Lewandowski, Peter (fiancé Kaylee Rodriguez) McWherter, Ricky Lewandowski, Samantha McWherter and Rebecca McWherter and two great-grandchildren on the way. Preceded in death by her parents, William P. (Daisy May) Uscila. Devoted, loving wife (57 years), mother (56 years), grandmother (32 years). We are not mourning the loss of a wonderful wife, mother or grandmother, but celebrating all of the joy that one person brought to the lives of so many. Jane always looked positively towards the world, regardless of the situation. She loved playing her Elvis recordings throughout her life, so much it was passed down to her children. Jane was a very devoted wife, and at the age of 15 she fell in love with a young man named Larry McWherter. She would follow this man anywhere, she married him in 1963 while he was in the Army. After Larry's discharge from the US Army they settled back in their hometown of Chicago, Illinois where she bore and raised 4 children. Laura, the eldest now 56, a set of fraternal twins, Dennis and Debra who will be 54 in a few weeks, and the youngest she affectionally called "tons of fun" Terry now 52. As each day and year past, she ensured she was always there for each of her children. When her children grew up and left home to begin their adult lives, new joys of her love would come her way. The birth of her 8 "wonderful grandchildren". She could not stop speaking of them, proud of each of them and so deserving of a grandmother's love, each in their own way. Each of her grandchildren grew knowing that they each were the love of her life. Several years ago, Jane became sick and the love of her life, partner and soul mate, Larry now became her sole caregiver. The man whom she loved and cared for from the day they met. The love that has been shared between Larry and Jane is the example that all should follow. They are truly the testament of love through sickness and health. Today, Jane has rejoined her parents, Willam and Daisy May Uscila and will be patiently waiting with God to be reunited once again with the most amazing man that God made for her. Though the days will be tough without her simile, our hearts will grieve, tears will fall but we all can rest easy knowing she is resting peacefully. Time will pass, our hearts will grieve a little less, but she will never be forgotten as her spirt lives with each person she has ever encountered, especially her family. In accordance with Jane's wishes, cremation rites will be accorded. Inurnment will be held at a later date at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery.
