Janice Ruth Meyer Born in 1932, in Erie, PA. Janice was a long-time resident of the Joliet area. Janice passed away June 15, 2016 at Meadowbrook Manor of Naperville, IL. Janice is survived by her children, Cheryl (Bob) Saar, Dan (Clete) Richardson, Greg (Lisa) Meyer, Terry (Kelly) Meyer, seven grandchildren, and two great grandchildren. Preceded in death by her husband, Harold C. Meyer, Jr, and her granddaughter, Danielle Richardson, in infancy. Janice received her B.S. in Elementary Education at Penn State University. She continued her education at George Williams College, where she received her Master of Social Work. Janice taught Elementary Education in State College, PA in the mid-1960s and worked as a school social worker and counselor in the Will County area in the 1980s. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren, visiting parks and museums, and traveling to Ireland, Greece, and France. Janice loved animals of all kinds and adopted many stray cats and dogs. She also enjoyed painting, drawing, and writing fiction. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Alzheimer''s Association would be appreciated. Family and Friends will gather on Thursday, June 23, 2016, at 11:00 AM for a graveside Memorial Service and inurnment at Woodlawn Memorial Park, 23060 W. Jefferson St. Joliet, IL, 60431. There will be no funeral home services.
