JoAnn M. Konieczny, age 69, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, April 1, 2023.

Loving wife survived by her husband of 50 years, William Konieczny; loving mother to children, Jerry (Amy) Konieczny, Patricia (Jesse) Bonilla, and Sarah (Jim) Hughett; loving Nana to grandchildren, Hannah, Alison, Cara, Naomi, Asher, Acacia, Ava, and Kendall; siblings, Richard Ponkauskas, Rosemary Slachetka, Gennevive Cooper, Beverly Skocy, Stella Carpenter, and Pamela Erdey. Numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive.

Preceded in death by her parents, Joseph (Lucille) Ponkauskas; grandbaby angels; brothers, Michael Ponkauskas and Eugene Ponkauskas; her godfather, Buel Taylor and Patricia Taylor; and her longtime friend, Patricia Zolecki.

Anyone who knew JoAnn knew she was a lover of angels, chatting on the phone at all hours of the night, playing games on her iPad, the Wizard of Oz, decorating for each holiday and a good glass of wine with her friends by the fire. She spent her life as a wife, mother, and Nana that worked tirelessly to love, support, and encourage each and every one of us that she loved dearly. JoAnn loved spoiling her grandchildren to no end. She has been there through each of the ups, downs, challenges, heartaches, and blessings in each of our lives, and didn't mince words when giving advice. She may not have taken advice as easily as she gave it, but that's what made her special to us because she lived life on her own terms. We all have special memories of JoAnn that we share and will hold in our hearts forever.

A celebration of life for JoAnn will be held at Farkas Funeral Home, 3201 W. Jefferson St. Joliet, IL 60431 on Sunday, April 16, 2023. Memorial visitation will be held from 1:00 pm until time of services at 4:00 pm. Per JoAnn's wishes cremation rites have been accorded.
