He started selling Amsoil as a hobby and grew that hobby into Illinois' #1 dealership, First Place Oils. Jody was a mentor to many in the Amsoil world. He was well respected by many. Jody loved his job, and he loved the Grundy County Speedway, where he often sponsored cars. He was the "gas guy". Besides First Place Oils, Jody was also one of the best drug testers in the business while working for his wife's business, Chicago Drug Testing.

He was known as "MacGyver" and "The gadget guy" that always had some of the latest and greatest toys. He was a caring man that would give the shirt off of his back to help anyone.
Most recently, Jean and Jody bought a beautiful home in Marseilles where he continued to do for others by helping his neighbors with anything he could. Especially if he could help using his John Deere Tractor. He was well loved, respected, and admired by all that knew him, he was known as "the best uncle in the world" to his nephew James. Jody will truly be missed.
