John D. Barbosa, age 71, passed away on Sunday, August 6, 2023, after a brief battle with cancer.

John is survived by his wife of 45 years, Cheri (Knezetic) Barbosa; children, Gina, Aaron, and Adam Barbosa, and Serena (Brandon) Barbosa-Olmos; grandchildren, Alicia and Ava Carlos, and Dominic Olmos; siblings, Albert (Licha) Barbosa, Tina Arias, Pedro Barbosa, Rene (Anna) Barbosa, Rebecca Davila, and Guadalupe Barbosa. Also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.

Preceded in death by his parents, Sabas (Eva) Barbosa; brother, Jesse Barbosa; sister-in-law's, Nicki Barbosa, and Ana Barbosa; brother-in-law, David Davila; niece, Rachel Barbosa and nephew, Robert Davila.

John Barbosa was a loving husband and a doting grandfather, often involved in his grandkids' school functions, soccer meets, and horseback riding activities. He was looking forward to his only grandson, Dominic, learning to walk so he could walk through the neighborhood with him.

John, mechanically inclined, was a motorcycle enthusiast and often worked on motorcycles and cars for family members and neighbors.

Visitation for John will be held Thursday, August 10, 2023, from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at Farkas Funeral Home, 3201 W. Jefferson Street, Joliet, IL. Additional visitation will be held Friday, August 11, 2023 from 9:00 am until Funeral services at 10:00 am from the funeral home to St. Joseph Catholic Church, 416 N Chicago St. Joliet, IL 60432, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Per John's wishes, cremation rites will be accorded after services.
