Joyce Marie Darmata (nee Rich), age 90, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 17, 2023.

Joyce was born on September 1, 1932, in DeKalb, Illinois. She is survived by her five children, Donna (J.R.) Rider, Debra (Sylvia) Darmata, Diane (Woody) Karr, Daniel (Amanda) Darmata, and Darlene (William) Baresch; 13 grandchildren, Richard (Nobuhle) Schure, Rachel (Jerry) Niesman, Jacob Darmata, Timothy and Kevin Karr, Emma Baresch, Annabel (Jay) Carter, Noah (Kaley) Darmata, Seth (Cassidy) Darmata, Samuel (Wendy) Darmata, Danny, Ben, and Abby Darmata, and 11 great grandchildren. Also survived by her siblings, Marion (Robert) Winterstein, Lane (Terri) Rich, Beth (Bruce) Miller, and sister-in-law's Connie Blatti and Rosalie Charletta. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive.

Preceded in death by her husband, Samuel L. Darmata in 1998; her parents, Earl Rich, and Leona Winterstein; brother, Gerald E. Rich.

Joyce was a faithful woman who loved the Lord, her family, church, community, and the Chicago Cubs. She was the epitome of "Motherly Love", and a mom to all that knew her. She was an active grandmother and great-grandmother participating in all activities whenever she could, never forgetting a birthday. She loved to travel about the county visiting family and friends whenever possible. In addition to raising five children, Joyce worked early on as a cosmetologist going on to become an instructor of cosmetology. Joyce received an associate degree from Joliet Junior College and worked for the Joliet Public School District for many years.

Memorial services for Joyce will be held at Farkas Funeral Home, 3201 W. Jefferson St. Joliet, IL 60431 on Friday, February 24, 2023, at 12:00 pm. Memorial visitation will be held from 10:00 am until time of services. Inurnment will be held at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations to Make-A-Wish Foundation or Lightways Hospice in Joliet would be appreciated.
