Kathleen R. Gurnitz (nee Corson), age 84, passed away on Friday, November 15, 2019. Survived by her children, Brian (Jean) Gurnitz, Raymond Gurnitz, Kevin Gurnitz and Christie (Luke) Schaberl; her grandchildren, Amy Gurnitz, John (Kelly) Gurnitz, Jacob Gurnitz, Kevin Gurnitz II, Joey Gurnitz, Katie (Dustin) Pitts, Jessica Gurnitz, Dakota (Samantha) Devore and Cheyenne Devore; her great-grandchildren, Kairen Pitts, Dakota Devore Jr. and EverLee Sue Devore; her daughter in law, Gina Gurnitz; her sister Ruby (Don) Farrell and her dear friend Ricky Walter. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive. She is preceded in death by her husband, Charles Gurnitz (1986); her son, Robert Gurnitz (2008); her brother, Joseph Corson; her parents, Joseph (Laura) Corson and her 1st husband, Harold Defend. Kathleen was born November 2, 1935 in Sandoval, IL. She was a graduate of Centralia High School. She worked for Sunny Hill Nursing Home. She was attending nursing school to become a registered nurse. She later worked at Silver Cross Hospital in Joliet, IL. She made the decision to leave Silver Cross to raise her children. She will be dearly missed. Visitation will be held at the Farkas Funeral Home, 3201 W. Jefferson St. Joliet, IL 60431 on Friday, November 22, 2019 from 11:00 AM until time of service at 12:00 PM.
