Kathleen A. Mayer Nee Duvall Age 79, passed away Saturday July 22, 2017 at Joliet Area Community Hospice Home with loving family by her side. Kathleen is survived by her daughter Peggy Smith; grandchildren; Jason Smith, Audrey Smith, Ed (Olivia) Mayer V; great-grandchildren. Cordelia Smith, Edison Mayer, Oliver Mayer, and sister Helen Meyers. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive. She is receded in death by her husband Ed Mayer III, sons Ed Mayer IV, Steven Mayer, a brother Willard Duvall, and her parents Willard and Margaret Duvall. Kathleen was an avid quilter and belonged to several quilting guilds in Illinois and Missouri. She was a published pattern maker, and taught quilting classes in the area. Kathleen loved gardening, hosting parties, cooking and shopping. She worked at St Joseph Hospital for 17 years before retiring than moving to Missouri and returning to Illinois in 2005. Per Kathleen''s request cremation rites were accorded. Private services were held for the immediate family.
