Kathleen P. Polkow (nee Johnston), age 54, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 16, 2020. Survived by her husband, John Polkow; her children, Alisha (fiancé, Daniel Janociak) and Stephen (fiancé, Georgene Marenche) Polkow; her grandchildren, Aiden Janociak, Mason Janociak and Hunter Olijar; her father, Dennis (Helene) Johnston; her siblings, Kenneth (Michelle) Johnston, Kevin (Sherry) and Kelley Foster-Johnston. Numerous nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. Preceded in death by her mother, Ilona Van Ryn and her grandmother Mary Madeline. Kathleen's whole life was devoted to caring for others. Whether it was her family, her children's friends (whom she had taken in as her own) or her career at Aspire (formerly PARC) where she worked with adults with developmental disabilities. She made sure that everyone was taken care of and happy. She had the gentlest heart and the brightest smile. Her young grandsons were her pride and joy; she gave them all the love she could muster. Everyone who knew Kathleen were blessed with her amazing soul and undying love. Private funeral services for Kathleen will be held at the Farkas Funeral Home, 3201 W. Jefferson Street, Joliet. Per Kathleen's wishes, cremation rites will be accorded following services. Inurnment will be held at Woodlawn Memorial Park at a later date.
