Kathleen A. Porubyanski, age 73, passed away with her husband by her side on Sunday, October 11, 2026.

Kathy was colorful, smart, talented, and a wonderful loving wife. She grew up as a child in Rockdale, Illinois. She went to high school in Joliet. Kathy lived in several other locations before moving to Glendale Heights where she stayed the rest of her life. Her main career started with AT&T assembling switch frames for telephone systems. She eventually transitioned through several positions leading to Lucent Technologies, a spinoff of the phone company working amongst the programming engineers. Later, Kathy held several different jobs. One had her working in the custom orders department of Hart Schaffner Marx, a maker of distinctive men's clothing. She also held several municipal jobs including the DuPage County Highway Department and the DuPage County Health Department. She loved camping in her tiny Grasshopper trailer with her camping friends. She enjoyed Rock n' Roll in her younger days then later leaned toward country music and would go two-stepping and line dancing with her friends, which is where she met Jim who would become her lifelong husband. She was passionate about sewing, studying fashion, pattern design, and textiles at College of DuPage. She was a member of the American Sewing Guild and the Haute Couture Club of Chicago. Among other things, she sewed her own wedding dress and the bridesmaid's dresses as well. She liked nature and enjoyed the many visitors to her backyard from hummingbirds to deer. Kathy liked travel. In her lifetime she experienced two total eclipses of the sun, traveled to Italy, Australia, Jamaica and Hawaii as well as many other U.S destinations. Her beautiful blue eyes, her smile, and her laugh will be missed. Kathy was loved.
