Obituary

Mr. Kendale DeJohn Love, (who we call John) passed away unexpectedly on Friday morning June 25, 2021, at the age of 34. He was born August 11, 1986, in Winona, MS. and later along with his family moved to Joliet, IL. John is survived by his loving parents, Mary and Sam Currie, Jr. and John (Cassandra) Miers. John was always full of life and loved to be around his family. Starting out his life in such a small southern town, John and his little sister were always joined at the hip. Through his childhood years he became very active in sports especially in basketball. John played in various YMCA programs and later on played in elementary, and junior high and won many awards and championships. John has always been very competitive even when playing a simple game of UNO. He would not stop until he won a game and if that did not happen, he would say, let's just quit, this game is taking too long!! That has always been his nature to be first at everything that he did. He also loved to read mystery thrillers and then sit and talk about them for hours!! He was never short of a conversation!! John was always compassionate about his family, never forgot birthdays, holidays or any special moments. It goes without saying, that these acts of kindness will forever be missed. John was a proficient warehouseman. John is survived by his children, Sekena Tompkins, Jaylyn Sisson, Kendall Love, Kyla Love, Aniyah Hurley, and Kendale D. Love Jr. siblings, Courtney Miers of Joliet, IL, bonus sisters and brothers- Joneccia Miers of Duck Hill, MS, Sydney Currie of Joliet, IL, Damian (Charlene) Bell, Hampton,VA and Sam T. Currie III of Lawrenceville, GA; aunts, Sandra Goldman of Duck Hill, MS, Mary (Larry) Brown of Grenada, MS, Katherine, Jennifer and Debra Love all from Akron, Oh and his loving nephew, Dakota Kelly of Joliet, IL. Numerous other nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. John was also preceded in death by his grandparents, Mary Louise Love, Rosebud Caffey, Felix Love, Abraham Caffey, Evar Bell Miers and Frank Miers.
