Obituary

Larry J. Wright Jr., age 63, passed away on Friday, June 28, 2024.

Survived by his wife of 40 years, Pamela Wright; children, Christina (Andrew) Trovato, and Jason Wright; grandchildren, Evan Trovato, Finleigh Wright, and Hailey Trovato; parents, Larry J. Sr. (Gayle) Wright, brother, Terrell (Audrey) Wright; cousin, Jerry Wright Jr. Numerous nieces, nephews, and dear friends also survive.

Larry J. Wright Jr. lived his entire life in Joliet, Illinois, where he graduated from Joliet Central High School in 1978. He met his wife Pamela in 1983 and they married in 1984. Larry broke his knee shortly after marrying Pamela and was told by his mother Gayle "If you can get through this, you can get through anything." They got through it and were happily married for 40 years. Larry was a devoted father to two children, Christina and Jason. He never missed one of Christy's dance recitals, and always showed up for Jason's baseball games. As his children grew into adults and started families of their own, he was always there to support them and help them get through the tough times. He was very proud of his children and grandchildren and was always willing to play dollies with his granddaughters Finleigh and Hailey.

Larry worked his way up through the Laborers Local 288 beginning as a construction laborer and retiring as the Business Manager. He put his men first and always battled hard for their needs to be met which was not an easy job. Retiring was a difficult decision for Larry because he loved them as a second family. Larry loved fishing with his family and friends and sitting by a nice fire. He would travel once a year ice fishing with his buddies, as well as visit his family in Wyoming County, West Virginia every summer. He spent a lot of time throughout the years hunting and fishing with his brother Terry, and his cousins in West Virginia. He truly cherished those country roads. Larry was an avid Nascar, Blackhawks, Bears and Cubs fan. He enjoyed building a rat rod with his Uncle Jerry Sr. before he passed away. He also loved taking rides around Joliet with his cousin Jerry Jr. in the rat rod and taking it to car shows. He also spent a lot of his time playing pool and shuffleboard at the Ingalls Park Athletic Club and visiting his friends at the Belmont Athletic Club. He was a lifetime member of both clubs and made a lot of memories with the friends he made there over the years. Larry was a man that would give you the shirt off his back if you needed it. He was always there to lend a helping hand and would have fought tooth and nail for the ones he loved. He will not only be remembered as a loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather and friend, but as a wonderful human being. He will be missed by many.
