Obituary

Lillian L. Honiotes, age 95, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 22, 2023.

Survived by many dear nieces, nephews, and family.

Preceded in death by her husband, Milton Honiotes; parents, Gustave (Hilda) Novy; siblings, Bonnie (Chet) Mecum, Daniel Novy, Bob (Roni) Novy, Roger (Donna) Novy, William (Delores) Novy, Harvey (Betty) Novy, Gloria (Phillip) Bock and Virginia (Robert-Link) Lincheski.

Lillian grew up in Braidwood, in a family of 9 and worked various jobs before meeting her husband, Milt Honiotes, whom she married on November 30, 1946. They both lived and worked in the Joliet area and made many trips to Florida, visiting with her sister and brother-in-law on many fishing trips. Milt owned a commercial Body and truck shop where she worked as secretary and bookkeeper for many years. She also worked at Hart Shaffner Marx sewing company, for many years as a seamstress. One of her favorite stories was that she was commissioned to sew an inseam liner for a suit coat for Bob Hope on one occasion. Lillian is most known for her last place of employment, 28 years of service driving a school bus for the Troy school district, bus number 233. She was out there rain or shine and she took her job seriously. She is known and loved by so many. Lillian touched the hearts of many people in her life and her life was a very long and full one. She had her little dog Bridget who was her pride and joy. When Bridget passed away, she filled that hole in her heart with another little dog, Avana. She used to love telling the story of their background from Cuba. Anyone who knew Aunt Lil knew that she loved her little doggy's. In the recent years she required the care of assisted living at Rock Run facility in Joliet. She lived the rest of her time under the care of very loving and warm people that took wonderful care of her.
