Marine
Satterlee
Jul 12, 1937 — May 18, 2025
Marine Satterlee, age 87, passed away with her family at her side on Sunday, May 18, 2025.
Survived by her sons, Wade (Deborah) Satterlee and Brian (Linda) Satterlee; four grandchildren; sister, Janet (Don Sr.) Satterlee. Numerous cousins, nieces and nephews also survive.
Preceded in death by her husband, Robert "Bob" Satterlee (April 17, 2025). Parents, Emet (Nellie) Graden and her siblings, Mary Francis Benning, Roberta Johnson, Patricia Johnson, Richard Graden, and David Dale Graden.
Marine was deeply proud of her family. She loved hearing about her sons' careers and passion projects, and keeping up on the latest in her extended family's lives and accomplishments. Her lifelong love of music led to both a fulfilling career as a piano teacher, as well as several enduring friendships with her former students.
Marine was strong in her Christian faith. She was a longtime member of Mission Bible Church (formerly Minooka Bible Church), but no matter where she was travelling, she would always find a church to attend on Sunday mornings. She cherished the friendships she made through her church community and enjoyed teaching the children in her life about Jesus.
Marine was also a longtime member of the Night Owls Unit of the Will County Homemakers Extension Association in Channahon, and she found many wonderful friendships with the ladies in that organization. She was a Den Mother while her boys were in Cub Scouts, supporting them in Boy Scouts as they earned their Eagle Scout.
Among other shared passions, Marine and Bob enjoyed gardening, as shown by the numerous flower beds in their front and back lawn. She especially loved her peonies and Tropicana Roses—and good luck finding a corner of her home that wasn't decorated with sunflowers!
Ask anyone who was lucky enough to have known her: Marine was an endless source of joy and laughter. She had a tremendous sense of fun and adventure and was never at a loss for activities to entertain her sons, grandchildren, nieces and nephews. You could see her love for you through the smile in her eyes.
