Mary L. Cassidy, a beacon of kindness and generosity, passed away peacefully on October 25, 2024, in Joliet, IL, at the age of 81. Born on September 3, 1943, in Forest Park, IL, Mary's warmth and selfless spirit were evident from a young age.

Preceded in death by her son, Jeff Howard; parents, Vernon (Beverly) Van Diepen; brothers, Bruce, Paul, and K.C. Van Diepen; loving pets, Misty, Madam, Daisy, Rocky, Pooh

Survived by her son, Brian (Debbie) Cassidy; granddaughter, Amber Cassidy; siblings, Scott Van Diepen, Jane Drapak; sister-in-law, Joyce Van Diepen; numerous nieces and nephews

Throughout her life, Mary dedicated herself to her role as a payroll administrator, where she was known for her meticulous attention to detail and her innate ability to care for her colleagues.

Mary's interests painted the picture of a woman who cherished the simple pleasures in life. An avid crocheter, she created countless pieces that brought comfort and joy to those around her. Her love for reading allowed her to explore worlds beyond her own, while her passion for television offered a window into stories that captivated her heart and imagination. Mary's pets were her cherished companions, and she showered them with the same love and kindness that she offered to everyone she met.

Described as kind, generous, and selfless, Mary's legacy is one of unconditional love and boundless generosity. Her presence will be dearly missed, yet her spirit will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know her.
