Mary L. Rekowski, age 82, of Joliet passed away peacefully on Monday, July 31, 2023, at Lightways Hospice Home, Joliet with her loving family at her side.

Survived by her husband of 32 years Richard Rekowski, her children Bernie (Carol) Higgenbotham, Bernadine (Jim) Becker, Patricia (Mike) Pemble, Joseph Higgenbotham and Melissa Higgenbotham, many dear grandchildren and great grandchildren, her brother, Lawrence Weis, and her sister, Jackie Brower.

Preceded in death by her parents Lawrence and Mary Weis.

Mary was a graduate of Lockport Central High School. She was a longtime member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, Joliet. Mary enjoyed dancing, casinos, the outdoors, roses and traveling. She and her husband Richard took countless trips, including, Hawaii, Alaska, Las Vegas, the Caribbean, and a thirteen-state trip to name a few. Mary loved her family; she took care of her own mother for many years, had movie nights and sleep overs with her grandchildren and made holidays special. Mary will be remembered for her love and zest for life, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend who will be missed by all who knew her.

Visitation for Mary will be Thursday, August 3, 2023, from 8:30-9:30 A.M. at Farkas Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will take place the same morning at 10:00 A.M. at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Joliet. Private committal service and entombment will be at Woodlawn Memorial Park I, Joliet.
