Merle F. Mau, age 68, passed away on Saturday, April 4, 2026.

Survived by his wife, Kathy Mau; children, Josh Marlow, Chris (Zac Kovac) Mau and Jennifer (Randy) Dickens; grandchildren, Ashlyn, and Brooke Mau, Cecelia, Cash, Quinn, and Fletcher. Numerous siblings, nieces and nephews also survive.

Preceded in death by his son, Merle "Rob" Mau, parents, Merle H. (Phyliss) Mau, and Grace Lane.

Merle was born and raised in Bloomington, IL. He married his longtime friend, Kathy Krzeminski on September 5, 1976. Merle worked for Statesville prison as a correctional officer for many years and retired on October 31, 2018. He was an avid gun, old toys and antiques collector. Merle loved to go to a good auction. His joy in life was spending time with his grandchildren, especially at their sporting events. His love for living on the Kankakee River was his true joy in life, he loved a good boat ride. If Merle wasn't on his boat, you would find him on a joyful ride on his motorcycle. Though Merle is no longer with us, the love he shared and the memories he created will forever live on in the hearts of his family and friends.

Funeral services for Merle will be held at Farkas Funeral Home, 3201 W. Jefferson St. Joliet, IL 60431 on Tuesday, April 14, 2026, at 7:00 PM. Visitation will be held from 3:00 PM until time of services. As it was Merle's request, cremation rites will be accorded following services.
