Obituary

Patricia Ann Majetic (nee Zaccaria), age 81, of Coal City, IL, passed away peacefully in the presence of her daughter, son-in-law, and grandchildren Maclin and Violet, at her Shorewood home of 50+ years, on Thursday, December 23rd, 2021. Survived by her daughter, Gina Majetic (Patrick) Furey; grandchildren, Nicole, Tawni, and Jesse Majetic, Morgan, Jacob, and Delaini Majetic, and Maclin and Violet Furey; great-granddaughter, Addison Majetic; and her sister, Phyllis Doherty (nee Zaccaria). Preceded in death by her parents, Philip, and Sofia Zaccaria; her husband, Eugene Majetic (d.1992), her sons Philip (d.2013) and Michael (d.2021) Majetic. The overarching theme in Patricia Majetic's life was love. A devoted wife, a doting mother and grandmother, a loyal sister, a true friend, and always a friendly face, Patricia's deep well of happiness was fortified by bringing joy to this world. She offered her beautiful smile to every person in her path, using her magic to conjure true connections with complete strangers; giving of herself to brighten so many lives. All of the "hats" she has worn in her life, tavern owner, record store owner (The Mole's Den 1970's), Troy Township school bus driver, Cinder Ridge Golf Course concessions manager, and so many more. Work was not "work" for Patricia when she felt she could make a difference; take pride in her contributions. Patricia loved the outdoors, especially in the summer. Whether it was pulling weeds in her bountiful garden, boating at her cottage on the Kankakee River, or spending winter months in Aruba with her dear sister, Phyllis. Patricia was happiest being outside, working or playing, and with her beloved family. Slapstick humor made her crack up, anything sentimental made her tear up. Patricia was full of life, full of love, generous to all; goofy, flirtatious, beautiful to the very end. In her absence there is a little less laughter and a little less loveliness in this world. She would want us to pick up the slack. Memorial services for Patricia will be held at a later date due to the Covid surge.
