Robert E. Francis Stoner of Joliet, IL passed away on December 22, 2023, at the age of 86 in the comfort of his home surrounded by his children. He was born on July 21, 1937, in Bloomington, IL where he grew up with his 4 brothers and sisters and began helping others at the age of 4 with his "magic hands."

He graduated from University of Illinois with a degree in Psychology. He spent his entire career helping families, children, and those fighting addiction. In the 60s, he developed innovated ways of testing children in grade school to help enrich their school learning experience and ended his career in alternate school programs helping wayward teens find their way again. He was very well known in his community in Joliet for his caring, loving ways, smile and genuine happy demeanor and loved by many in all walks of life. He gave his knowledge and services freely and often just for trade of knowledge.

Preceded in death by his mother, Mary Magedelene Brown; father, Frank Albert Stoner; brothers, Charlie Brown, Vernell (Bud) Stoner, Ada Belle Dunson, Margaret Stoner; stepson, Eugene Mines, Jr and step-grandson, Marlo Mines.

Survived by his children, Benjamin (Debra) Stoner, Erika (Marjorie) Lorenz, and Kristin Stoner; stepchildren, Alisa (Dan) Costion, Cynthia Mines, Shirley (Eugene Jr) Mines, Gregory Mines, Barney (Jennifer) Mines; 24 Grandchildren, and several very special nieces and nephews.

Memorial Service for Robert will be held at Farkas Funeral Home, 3201 W. Jefferson St. Joliet, IL 60431 on Friday, March 29, 2024, at 12:00 PM. Memorial visitation will be from 10:00 AM until time of services.
