Sammy Leon Ritchie, age 67, passed away on Saturday, September 19, 2020. Survived by his wife of 49 years, Patty Ritchie; his son, Samuel (Jennifer) Ritchie Jr., his grandchildren, Ryker Rekowski, Tristan Ritchie and Autumn Ritchie; his mother, Anna Ritchie; his sister, Eunice (Tom) Basile; three brothers, Curtis (Edie Grigsby) Ritchie, Rodney (Lisa) Ritchie and Dennis Ritchie; two nieces, Jennifer Knippenberg and Melissa (Matt) Pendleton; two nephews, Mario Ritchie and Anthony Ritchie. Preceded in death by his daughter, Elizabeth Xoxakos and his father, Unice Ritchie. Sammy was a pastor most of his life. He treasured every act of kindness and loved the simple things in life. Sammy always put family and friends first, he loved helping those that were struggling with life and problems that they faced by encouraging them with his words. Sammy was a family man. He loved to be out in nature and loved food. Animals held a special place in his heart, especially his dogs, Snickers and Sadie. He enjoyed riding motorcycles and was a Harley man! He truly sacrificed his life for his family to make sure he provided for them as well as he could. Graveside services for Sammy will be held at Arlington Cemetery, 401 E. Lake Street, Elmhurst, IL 60126 on Friday, September 25, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. In accordance with the current COVID-19 guidelines, all attendees will be required to wear a face mask and observe social distancing while in the funeral home.
