Vicky (Sorrentino) Jurica, age 84, entered Heavens gates surrounded by her family on April 7, 2018, in Joliet, Illinois.
Vicky was born on February 20, 1934 in Chicago, Illinois, to parents Vincent and Betty (Cuanzo) Sorrentino. She married the love of her life, John Shaw Jurica on May 1, 1954. Together they raised their 10 children in Niles, Illinois. In 2000 they moved to Joliet, where their house was seldom quiet, rarely empty, overly heated and always loving.
Vicky loved her husband and children with all of her heart. Some of their fondest memories include celebrating Holidays together, family vacations of camping, life on the lake, fishing, eating fresh catch, playing cards around the table and much laughter.
Vickys faith was central to her life. She loved the Lord deeply and desired that all of her family and friends would also know His love and salvation. She was active in serving the Lord by participating on worship and prayer teams at Christian Life Church in Mount Prospect and Pathway Church in Joliet, singing the praises of her Lord.
Although she was small in stature, she was mighty in prayer. It was not unusual to find Vicky tucked in some corner of the house reading her Bible and praying with tears rolling down her cheeks, or to walk into their home and hear music resonating throughout the halls as she sang along and rejoiced in her Savior. Her faith was an inspiration to many and her impact will live on through her family and many friends.
Vicky is survived by her faithful and dedicated husband of 64 years, John; their 10 children; John (Kay), Cathy (Kurt) Luhrsen, Julia (James) Revelle, Cindy (Brian) Lucca, JoAnn Borre, Christopher, Jacqueline Wykowski, Carla (Fred) Goldschmidt, Jay (Lynda), and Carol (Tyson) Frenzel; her 29 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren, sister, Bonnie Girsch, brother, Vincent Sorren and nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, Vincent Sorren, Betty Cuanzo Sorrentino and Step-mother Josephine Sorren.
Vicky spent her final years lovingly cared for by her husband and children. Johns attentiveness and compassion for her has been an inspiration to those who daily witnessed his gentle holding of her hand and constant attempts to make her life more pleasant. Vicky slipped from this world into the arms of Jesus on April 7, 2018 with John and her family by her side.
Visitation is scheduled for Friday, April 13th from 4-8 pm and Saturday, April 14th 10:00 am with Memorial Service to follow at 11:00 am at Pathway Church 19554 NW Frontage Rd., Shorewood, IL 60404. The family would like to thank Joliet Hospice, the many caregivers and friends who helped make Moms final journey toward her prize more comfortable and peaceful. In lieu of flowers donations may be sent to Pathway Church in honor of Vicky Jurica.
